INTRODUCTION LETTER

Space Camp 2013

My name is Danny Jaques. I am the 7th grade Science teacher at Ignacio Junior High School in Ignacio, Colorado. For the past twenty years I have been taking students from Ignacio to attend Space Camp and Aviation Challenge in Huntsville, Alabama. Huntsville is home to the U.S. Space and Rocket Center and Marshall Space Flight Center.

Diana Wright, Miller Mid School Teacher, is my co-sponsor for our Space Camp/ Aviation Challenge adventures and we bring students together to form an awesome team from SW Colorado.

In the next 20 years, the aerospace industry is going to expand at a tremendous rate for two reasons. The first one is the commitment of the U.S. government and NASA to explore Mars. Secondly, retirement of current experts in the aerospace field will leave thousands of jobs and careers available for those individuals who are qualified for them!! Here is your opportunity to “shoot for the stars!”

Our next trip to Space Camp/Aviation Challenge is scheduled for June 8-14, 2013 and will be open to all students from 4th through 12th grade. For further information about Space Camp/Aviation Challenge you may log on to the web at www.spacecamp.com.

The estimated cost for this trip is $1800.00 per student. This price will cover all expenses except for extra spending money. (Please don’t let the price scare you away because where there is a will there is a way!)  We are currently scheduling fundraisers to help you raise money for the trip.

It is possible to raise all of your money through these four fundraisers depending on how hard you work. Each student will have an individual account and money raised will be credited to it. Money can also be raised by other means. The students are free to do their own fundraising or contribute money to their account. It doesn’t really matter how the money is raised as long as it is raised. In the past, there have been students who have raised every dollar that was needed and there have been students who have raised none but their parents paid for the trip. The decision is up to the student and parent(s).

We will have an organizational BBQ at Santa Rita Park on Sunday, August 26, 2012 from 4 to 6pm. Hope to see you then!
